PNC - Barack Obama wins presidency by a hair

The JSA presidential nominating convention was today at Rice University. Attendance was a little bit lower than had been hoped due to conflicts with the SAT and various schools service projects, but all who attended had a blast. The democrats nominated Barack Obama as their presidential candidate after an insightful question-and-answer sessions in which both candidates demonstrated thorough knowledge of the issues, and the Republicans nominated Ron Paul by a razor thin margin after a similar session.

    Letter from the governor

Dear Junior Statespersons, Teacher Advisors, & Parents,

What a phenomenal year it has been so far for the Texas Junior State! I would like to welcome you to the official website of the Texas Junior State of America. As we continue to move full steam ahead with our plans for this year, I strongly encourage you to visit this site regularly for constant updates and reminders – so much is going on in Texas JSA this year that we would hate for you to miss out! At the beginning of the year we pledged to work towards greater communication and the goal of always keeping you informed. We hope that through diligence and dedication put into this site we can do just that.

In addition to our plans for better communication amongst the state, Texas JSA is in the midst of trying to accomplish another one of our goals. For the 2007-2008 school year, we promised to seek out potential chapters in all areas of the Texas State and look to establish strong chapters from summer program graduates. Through the expansion of the Chapter Affairs Department into what is now called “ECAD” (Expansion, Communication, Chapter Affairs Department), Texas JSA is well on its way to establishing over 50 chapters across the states of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, & Colorado.

In order to continue to push forward and truly make this goal a reality, I ask that former, current, or perspective chapter presidents please fill out the Chapter Leadership Form that can be found on this site. It is imperative that you fully and accurately complete this form and e-mail it to me as soon as possible. Once this occurs we will be able to keep you in the loop with what is going on in the Texas Junior State, as well as have the opportunity to spread the word on all of the great things going on at your chapter.
I cannot thank you enough for taking the initiative to inquire further into what is happening in the Texas Junior State. Without your wholehearted passion and faithfulness to Texas JSA, there would be no avenue to express opinions, opportunity to meet new friends, or once in a lifetime chance to get dressed up for dances like no other. Please continue to check out this website for updates so that we can ensure you’re involved in the best year the Texas Junior State has ever experienced.
    Sincerely,

    Milam R. Miller

    Texas Governor 2007-2008
